The
YOUTH ORCHESTRA OF BUCKS COUNTY, Pennsylvania (YOBC) was founded in
1991 with the sponsorship and support of Bucks County
Community College. Its mission is to provide talented
young musicians in the northern suburban areas of
Philadelphia with an advanced musical experience to
augment their school music programs. In 15 seasons the
organization has grown from a single, 60-member ensemble
to five ensembles with more than 180 young musicians.
In addition to our regular concert
series, YOBC has performed at historic Penn Ryn on the
Delaware, at the Old Post Office in Washington, D.C.,
and in New York at St. Peters Church, Ellis Island and
the Statue of Liberty. In 2002 we undertook our first
international tour, traveling to Vienna, Salzburg and
Bavaria and performing in Matzen, Austria and at the
International Youth Music Festival in Ansbach, Bavaria.
In July 2004 we toured Scandinavia, performing in
Odense, Egeskov Castle, Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen,
and Stockholm. In July 2006 we performed in Prague and
Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic, and participated in
the International Youth Music Festival in Germany's
beautiful Oberpfalz region.
