Our Intermediate Division is
composed of two
ensembles geared toward developing advanced
elementary school, middle school, and early high
school musicians.
The
Philharmonia, a
20-member string orchestra, is under the baton of our music director,
Mr. Robert Loughran. Its goal is to develop additional musical sensitivity and expression in performers who have significant ensemble experience, in preparation for their entry into the YOBC Symphony
Orchestra. The Philharmonia, which was a new addition to our program
in 2002, studies and performs advanced classical string orchestra arrangements.
The 30-member
Wind Symphony is under the direction of
Ms. Colleen Sweetsir. The purpose of the Wind Symphony is to provide an environment for advanced elementary and middle school wind players to improve wind methods as they develop their ensemble skills in a challenging yet supportive environment. Members of the Wind Symphony perform classically oriented arrangements for symphonic band.
